Radio station "marathons" for good cause
Non-profits to benefit from annual event
One local radio station is doing it's part to help the community.
If you listened to KEKB Monday you may already know about the 2nd annual United Way Radiothon.
All the money raised is donated to United Way of Mesa County.
Donations for this year have seen a significant decrease overall, leaving local non-profits short of their fundraising goals.
The goal this year is for the Radiothon to raise $20,000.
KEKB is hoping to raise money by sharing individual stories of people who've been helped by a local non-profit.
Britton Crone, a familiar voice to those in the Grand Valley, works programming and promotions for the station and explained, "A lot of time you know that these non-profits are out there but you don't get to hear the stories of what they do and the lives that they've changed. So we're focusing on that mostly today."
The Radiothon ended at 7 pm, but donations online will be accepted until midnight on Monday the 11th.
You can donate by visiting www.unitedwaymesacounty.org and clicking on donate now.
Last year, just under $16,000 was raised over a 12 hour period.
