Prisoner who escaped at Denver airport arrested
Authorities have arrested a prisoner who escaped while he was being taken to Denver International Airport to be deported.
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement spokesman Carl Rusnok says the Scotts Bluff County Sheriff's Office in Nebraska arrested 25-year-old Phoday Dumbuya on Friday evening.
Dumbuya was being deported to Gambia when he escaped Tuesday while being escorted by two ICE officers. The Denver Post reports (http://bit.ly/11gj6W6 ) it was unclear how he was able to escape and leave DIA property, but immigration officials say he wasn't wearing handcuffs.
Dumbuya was convicted in Denver for assault in 2008 and sentenced to two years of probation. Court records indicate he head butted a woman and punched her repeatedly after she fell to the ground. The victim also said Dumbuya had threatened to kill her.
