Denver Police are looking into their communications and response times surrounding the death of a woman whose body was found in a home five hours after an officer responded to a domestic violence report at the same address.
Authorities say 41-year-old Christopher Alex Perea was arrested Monday on suspicion of first-degree murder in the death of 44-year-old Loretta Barela. Neighbors say they were married.
The coroner says the cause of death hasn't been determined.
KUSA-TV first reported (http://tinyurl.com/d9modn5 ) that police had gone to the house hours before Barela was found dead on Sunday.
Police Chief Robert White tells The Denver Post (http://tinyurl.com/bt68k2y ) his department wants to know how much time passed between the domestic violence call and the arrival of an officer, and whether the officer took the appropriate action.
