Police are investigating after a body was discovered Wednesday afternoon in Fruita.

The man was found naked by a passerby at around 3:30 pm in a ditch in the 1200 block of 17 1/2 Road.

Mesa County sheriff's deputies tell KJCT News 8 the white male is clean cut with brown hair. He appears to be in his early 20’s with no identifying marks or tattoos.

The coroner was called out to the scene and needs to preform an autopsy to properly identify him. The cause and manner of death will also be determined at that time.

Wednesday night, police told KJCT News 8 they were investigating a possible connection between this incident and a rollover car crash that happened early in the morning about a half of a mile away.

The accident happened around 2:00 am at the intersection of 18 Road and L Road. Police were never able to find the driver of the car and the canal that the man was found in runs straight from the scene of the accident to where the body was discovered.
