Grand Junction police will no longer be stopping you for having marijuana.
Today we got our hands on an internal memo from the department detailing its new policy.
The memo states that although the election results aren't certified yet, starting immediately officers will no longer cite people 21 or older for having an ounce or less of marijuana.
The document also reviews some other important questions such as... where it's allowed.
The department says "Public consumption is forbidden by the amendment."
Another important topic addresses cultivation. It says a person may grow up to six plants, but it must be done in an enclosed space, not in public and it can't be sold.
As for someone having more than the one ounce allowed, the memo says there’s no change, you can still be charged without any regard for the amendment.
The police department hopes this memo will clear up confusion for officers.
However if something's missing, officers are asked to bring questions to their supervisors.
