PALISADE, Colo. -

Mesa County emergency officials have closed the evacuation center at Palisade High School because it has not been used since it opened.

The center has been open 24 hours a day since 5:45 pm on Thursday, June 28, 2012, for the Pine Ridge Fire evacuees. The evacuation center has not seen a single evacuee and was closed at 2:00 pm Saturday under the direction of the Mesa County Emergency Operation Center.

Officials say the American Red Cross remains available and able to reactivate the center if it is needed again or to assist those displaced by the Pine Ridge Fire on an individual basis.

The local office of the American Red Cross is staffing their information and assistance phone line for all hours of the day. Anyone needing assistance from the American Red Cross should call (970) 210-9742.
