Nathan Yager plans to appeal the decision
A Paonia man accused of killing his wife in 2011 has been sentenced to 42 years in prison.
Nathan Yager was in court on Monday to hear his sentencing, according to the Montrose Daily Press.
Yager was found guilty of 2nd degree murder in November for the death of his estranged wife Melinda Yager.
On January 7, 2011, Melinda's body was found near the railroad tracks off of Delta Avenue in Paonia. She had multiple cuts to her body and neck.
Yager came forward to police following the discovery.
He had entered a plea of not guilty by reason of insanity but that was denied.
According to court records, Yager plans to appeal the sentencing of 42 years in prison.
