PALISADE, Colo. -

Not many know that Palisade has been harvesting grapes since the late 1800's. Now the world's largest travel site, trip advisor is naming Palisade one of the top wine destinations in the country.

"To say we're excited about a trip advisor release is an understatement; we are included now amongst the best in American wine growing regions"

Word about the top ten ranking has spread throughout town... and residents are glad to see hard work paying off.

"I think that's really fantastic, I'm glad that everyone voted and voted for the town palisade, our wine is important to the area and as a Palisidian it's important to me as well"

One grape in particular is drawing attention to the area. Colorado wine festival director Cassidee Shull says most people haven't even heard of it.

"We have exceptional fruit wines here in Palisade, and we have exceptional cab franc which is a new grape that not everybody's so familiar with but Colorado defiantly becoming put on the map for that grape for sure"

Julianne Adams, director of sales at the Palisade inn, and newly appointed director of the palisade chamber of commerce says the initial challenge was just getting Palisade recognized.

"We had to sell Palisade first, we had to give them a reason to stay here, and it was a very easy thing to do because Palisade has some wonderful things that are just quaint and unique about Palisade."
