The Grand Junction Police Department is investigating vandalism at an Orchard Mesa Cemetery.
Police were called to the cemetery by employees who noticed several headstones were damaged, moved or tipped over.
The cost to repair is estimated at more than $1,000 and police do not have any suspects in mind just yet.
"Because of the amount of damage done and the fact that it's more than $1,000 dollars it could be a class four felony and that could lead to several thousand dollars worth of fines and even jail time," Kate Porras with GJPD said.
The police do not have any suspects. It will be up to the families owning these plots to pay for the headstones to be replaced or fixed.
Police say this is not the first call they had to a cememtery for this type of crime.
If you have any information about this incident you are asked to contact GJPD.
