Nursing program named for benefactors

On Monday, the CMU nursing program recognized two major benefactors by naming its program after them.

John and Angie Moss have been longtime supporters of CMU; you may recognize their name from the Moss Performing Arts Center, which they helped renovate in 2002.

The Mosses have donated generously to the university in the past, and they just gave another big donation to the Department of Health Sciences.

CMU unveiled the new signage and name for its nursing program on Monday. It's now called the "Moss School of Nursing".

The Mosses say they believe CMU's nursing program is one of the best in the state, and they're happy to support aspiring medical professionals.

They're also pleased to give back to the teachers and staff of the university. The Mosses sponsor a number of performing arts faculty grants and student scholarships.

"They prepare people to meet the world, they prepare people to make a living, they prepare people to live. We think this matters, and so this is one of our primary charitable interests...yeah we'll probably be back," said John Moss.

At the request of the Mosses, the amount of their donation won't be released.

CMU's Department of Health Sciences has four different healthcare professional programs: Nursing, Radiologic Technology, Emergency Medical Services and Medical Lab Technology.

In addition to the university, the Mosses have supported other programs in Grand Junction for decades. 

They were franchisees of Taco Bell for more than 40 years and they have interests in other business and real estate investing.
