GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. -

The search continues to identify and recognize those who strive to make our community a better place to live, work and play.

The Western Colorado Chapter of the American Red Cross is seeking nominations for this year's edition of 'Real Heroes'.

You can nominate anyone who you feel matches the description.

Your hero can be a family member or friend, a professionally trained life saver, or simply a Good Samaritan, according to directors with the Red Cross.

A form to nominate your hero can be found here: Red Cross' Real Heroes.

Executive director with Grand Junction's Red Cross office, Eric Myers, spoke to KJCT about the importance of nominating local heroes.

"Somebody out there who's changed a life, saved a life, who's had a tremendous impact, positive impact on our community," said Myers.

"This is a great opportunity to share stories of heroes in western Colorado," Myers said.

Nominations must be submitted by March, 20.

A committee of community representatives will select the winners who will be honored at the Heroes Celebration Award's Dinner at the Double Tree Hotel on April, 26.

KJCT News 8 is a proud sponsor of Red Cross' 'Real Heroes'. We'll be at the award's ceremony broadcasting the event live.
