New trail proposed for Monument Road
New trial will help connect existing trails
The Mesa Land Trust is planning on developing some new trails in the area but they need the cooperation of the community as well.
The non-profit is working to create a trail on Monument Road, where there is a current lack of space and forces people to walk dangerously close to the road to get from one trail to the next. Officials hope to begin the development soon and work alongside the community.
“After the first of the year, the land trust is going to begin working with land owners and recreational groups as well as local governments like the city and the county to try to connect some of the existing trails along monument road to the riverfront trail”, explained Rob Bleiberg, Executive Director of Mesa Land Trust.
Officials hope that the new trail will provide the missing connection for both residents and tourists to bike from downtown all the way to the monument.
