New resource management plan, BLM wants your help

The BLM needs your help deciding what it should do with over a million acres of Western Colorado’s federal land.

The bureau makes all of its decisions based on resource management plans.  It decides which areas are open and closed to oil and gas, where you can go mountain biking, and pretty much everything else.

Resource management plans only come out every 20 years. In that time, needs can change drastically.

In just a few weeks, the newest plan will be ready for public comment.  The BLM wants your help making its decision.

“A lot of people in the Grand Valley love their public lands and like to use them. That’s a reason a lot of us live here,” planning and environmental coordinator, Collin Ewing, said.  “Its important for everyone to get involved and have some say in how their lands are managed so they can continue to have those uses into the future.”

The BLM has come up with several alternative plans for resource management.

Depending on public comment the plan will then be taken to the next step, which is an actual proposal.
