Sheriff Deputies in Florida say it was a tip that led authorities to the mobile home community where Heather Jensen was staying.
Residents in that Florida neighborhood say Jensen was staying at her mother’s house for about a month before she was taken into custody earlier this week.
It’s not the first time she's been arrested in the area, and it's her criminal record that helped authorities find her.
While people in Western Colorado searched for answers, trying to figure out what happened the night William and Tyler were left alone, their mom Heather Jensen was at her mother's home in Fort Myers, Florida.
"They kept pretty much to themselves, which I understand why now," Neighbor, Mike Ballew said.
Because of her connection to Southwest Florida, authorities figured Jensen might have fled there.
Sheriff deputies got a tip Jensen, who was going by her maiden name Holesapple, was staying with her mom inside the River Trails mobile home community.
Lt. Larry King, with Lee County Sheriff’s Office, says, "Our fugitive warrants unite received information that this was a possible location that she may be going again because of relationship issues."
That tip led to Jensen’s arrest, her third in the area. She was taken into custody one time for driving without a valid license, another for trespassing, and now the most serious.
24-year-old Jensen is willingly heading to Mesa County to face charges. Two counts of child abuse resulting in death, two counts of criminally negligent homicide and one charge of lying to authorities.
"Knowing that she was on the run from police in Colorado for child abuse and the death of her two children, it’s not really all that surprised," Ballew said.
Ballew lives a few doors down from where Jensen was staying. He says the only time he would see her was at night when she'd come out with a man.
Still neighbors are sickened by the allegations against her.
"It's just really sad in this day and age," said Ballew, "That a parent could take more interest in having a sexual relation with somebody and smoking marijuana and allowing her kids to die."
