GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. -

The newly formed Western Colorado Latino Chamber of Commerce is working to bridge a gap between cultures.

On Saturday, it held one of its first meetings.

Chamber President Rich Lopez says the Latino community in Western Colorado is growing rapidly and there's a real need for an organization to represent their businesses.

It hopes to work along side other area chambers, encouraging Latinos to speak up and become more active in their community

“We are concerned with the infrastructure and success of all the chambers,” Lopez said.  “I think there is a place where we can fit in and benefit the area. “

Lopez says he's been talking with area businesses and organizations to find out how the chamber can best serve the Latino population.
