Local business advocates are always hoping to expand our community profile, and the latest effort is a gigantic electronic billboard showcasing Grand Junction. But, it's the location that gives marketers high hopes.
The Grand Junction Economic Partnership has joined with the Grand Junction Visitor and Convention Bureau to advertise in New York City.
The electronic billboard will be near Times Square, at 42nd Street and 7th Street, and will display some of the beautiful images and activities that Mesa County has to offer.
The billboard is 20-feet-high and 26-feet-wide.
The Grand Junction ad will run until April 14th.
Kelly Flenniken, executive director for the Grand Junction Economic Partnership, said it's estimated that over 300,000 people will see the ad on a daily basis.
"Times Square is a global audience, you know, there are so many people there all day everyday from all over the planet. So it's just unbelievable how many impressions we can really get," said Flenniken.
Officials expect the ad to be shown 3,276 times during the allotted time frame. They said spring is one of the busiest travel and tourism seasons in N.Y.C., so they're hoping to make a big impact.
The Grand Junction Economic Partnership is splitting the bill with the Grand Junction Visitor and Convention Bureau.
Flenniken said they received an incredible deal from the New York media agency due to another advertiser having to bail out at the last minute.
