Travelers across the country are receiving an early holiday gift this year- lower gas prices.

We talked to some drivers today who said it's about time for a break.

Relief is sweeping across the country and the state of Colorado.

Motorists are getting a break as pump prices continue to fall, approaching the busy end of the year.

Today the average gas price in the state of Colorado is $3.04per gallon.

Some gas stations in Grand Junction are down to $2.94 a gallon.

“I was actually pretty excited. I put twenty dollars and got more than two gallons so under three dollars, I think it's about time, it just keeps going down. We don't travel outside the state but even around town helps. Now I don't have to spend sixty dollars filling my tank, I can do a little more Christmas shopping," said Jennifer Clement.

These prices have been driven lower by a number of factors including the switch to winter-blend fuel, which is less expensive to produce. Also cheaper crude oil prices, lower demand and other economic concerns.

Prices in every state are less than a week ago.

AAA says they expect the national average to continue to decline approaching the end of the year.
