An early morning fire at a Grand Junction business called for a Haz-Mat crew to respond due to potentially dangerous chemicals burning in the air.
A portion of 25 Rd. has been closed while crews assess the situation.
The fire occurred at Plating Specialties, located at 574 unit A on 25 Road. The blaze sparked around 5:50 a.m. and firefighters put it out by 6:15 a.m., according to Mike Page with the Grand Junction Fire Department.
Due to the fire and the Haz-Mat team being called to the area, 25 Road is closed indefinitely from Inland Avenue to Industrial Avenue.
Drivers should avoid the area Friday morning.
Plating Specialties deals with chemical plating, which is the reason the Haz-Mat team was called to the scene.
The cause of the fire and the extent of damage are still under investigation.
KJCT has a crew on the scene and will continue to keep you updated as we learn more information about the fire and road closure.
