Mitt Romney is the last republican standing in the race for the presidential nominee. On Tuesday, he was in the grand valley to gain supporters for the November election.
"The American people are seeing fewer jobs created than we need and the president announces he's going to make it harder for them to be created," Romney said. "I just don't think this president understands how our economy works. Liberals have an entirely different view about what makes America the economic powerhouse it is."
Just last week, numbers were released saying 80,000 jobs were created, but Romney says that's nowhere close to enough. Even though Obama is trying to convince the public he's done something right.
"Our nation needs to create about double that if we're going to keep up with the population growth of our nation," he said.
Romney says another problem with President Obama's policies, is he is not honest.
"As a plan, he's said to lower taxes. Now we were all excited when we heard that but you've got to be careful when people in Washington say they're lowering taxes," Romney said. "Hold on to your wallet."
Romney says he's not sure how a man can be responsible for a country when he's so irresponsible with money.
"He borrowed $787 billion for his so called stimulus, so that they would be able to keep unemployment below 8%," Romney said. "It has been above 8% every months since, 41 straight months by their own measure. He has failed, his policies do not work. "
The governor says he's looking forward to the upcoming debates. He wants to talk to Obama face to face about the attacks made in recent political ads.
"A independent unbiased fact checking organization looked at his ad and looked at the attack and said it's false and misleading," Romney said.
And Romney says it's President Obama who's doing the out sourcing.
"By putting money into energy companies, solar and wind companies, who end up making their products outside the United States," Romney said. "If there's an out sourcer it's the president of the United States, not the guy who's running to replace him."
Romney says four years is long enough for Obama. He didn't get his job done and his policies are not working.
"The president said just give his policies some time. Now that's a change of rhetoric because when he was inaugurated he went on the Today Show shortly after and he said if I can't turn the economy around in three years I'll be looking at a one term proposition," Romney said. "And we're here to collect."
Romney says America has had enough change, now they need to believe in someone who can get the country back where it needs to be.
"We're falling further behind under this presidency and that's one reason why we're going to change him and get someone in there who will get this economy going," he said.
