GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. -

The winner of the Miss Colorado 2012 Pageant  was in Grand Junction Thursday. She's promoting herself across the state in preparation for the Miss America Pageant in January.

Hannah Porter's from Denver, but she was at the Two Rivers Convention Center for a Grand Junction Kiwanis Club meeting Thursday afternoon.

Porter tells us that each contestant has a personal platform to connect with the community; her platform happens to be the Kiwanis Club.

She's competed for Miss Colorado in 2010 and 2011, but she said the third time was truly a charm for her.

"The poor girls around me we're like, 'Are you OK, are you going to faint?' And, I didn't obviously but I just, I felt like it was going to happen again and so I was kind of afraid, but when they announced me as the winner and as Miss Colorado 2012, I kind of probably blacked out, I don't even really remember," said Porter.

"All I remember was being totally honored and knew that I had really big shoes to fill," Porter added.

Hannah will represent Colorado in the 2013 Miss America Pageant. You can see her in action by watching the pageant on KJCT.

It takes place on Saturday, January 12th at 7:00 p.m.
