Miss Colorado Pre-Teen gives to the Grand Junction Fire Department
Tristany Hightower was crowned queen and received bears that she donated to fulfill part of her community service requirement
Miss Colorado Pre-teen is a local Grand Junction girl, and on Tuesday, she was filling her community service requirements by donating to the Grand Junction Fire Department.
Tristany Hightower, 13, attends Fruita 8/9 and her dad is a firefighter so when deciding where to donate several stuffed animals she chose an organization close to her heart.
After being crowned queen at the beauty pagent, Hightower received the bears. Now, she's giving them to those who need them most.
“I wanted to donate them to the fire department because when children are in back of the ambulance they can get scared and the bears can help them comfort,” Hightower said.
The fire department was thankful for the "Care Bears" donation.
After leaving the fire department on Tuesday, Hightower went to Latimer House-- a local non-profit known for helping families in need -- to donate even more. This time books to keep children entertained.
