GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. -

The holidays can be tough for those in need and low-income families.

Fortunately there are many programs and individuals out there who are more than willing to help during this time of year... and Michael Strasser is one of them.

Strasser has been camped out in front of the city market on 25 road for three days now... collection donations such as canned food and turkeys for local families in need.

It's his fourth year doing this, and when we asked him what giving back to his community meant to him he said, “Hunger will never sleep.”

“I know I'm doing something to help them, I may not see them face to face, but i know the people who do see them face to face, and I know the struggles, been there done that. Nobody should go hungry in America, nobody should go hungry in Grand Junction, nobody."

If you'd like to help out mike, the Salvation Army, and families in need for this holiday season, just stop by the Salvation Army.

They’re accepting turkeys, food items or other donations for the needy.
