Clinton Chism to serve 9 years, gets credit for time served
A Grand Junction man has been sentenced to nine years in state prison on felony assault charges.
Clinton Michael Chism was picked up by police in June after stabbing a man who had accompanied his wife to their home.
Chism and his wife were separating at the time, and she had come to the home to get some of her things.
The victim remained outside in a parked car.
When Chism learned the man was outside, he allegedly went outside with a large knife, opened the car door, and repeatedly stabbed the victim, who eventually managed to escape and ultimately survived.
As part of the sentencing, Chism will get credit for the time he has already served.
He has also has been ordered to pay $20,000 in restitution.
