A Texas man is recovering after spending nearly 48 hours lost and alone on central Colorado's Mount Massive.
Lake County emergency manager Mike McHargue tells The Summit Daily News (http://bit.ly/QtRFlZ ) a group of five men, all between the ages of 35-40, began their trek Monday through extremely rough terrain on the 14,421-foot mountain near Leadville. By the time the group made its way down, two were missing.
McHargue says one of the missing men returned to camp in bad shape Tuesday morning. At about 8 p.m. Tuesday, search crews received word that the other man had found a roadway and hitched a ride to camp.
McHargue described the man as "near death, dehydrated and incoherent."
The names and hometowns of the hikers, who have returned home, have not been released.
