A 28-year-old man has acknowledged his role in the bathtub scalding death of a 2-year-old boy in Denver.
The Denver District Attorney's Office said in a news release Monday that John Vigil pleaded guilty Friday to child abuse resulting in death. He is scheduled to be sentenced May 9.
Prosecutors say Elijah Archuleta died shortly after he was taken to a hospital in November 2008 with severe burns on 75 percent of his body. Vigil and the boy's mother, 28-year-old Isela Reyes-Talamantes, are accused of driving around and running errands while Elijah suffered in the back seat.
Reyes-Talamantes is serving 20 years in prison for the death.
