A man says his landlord at a Montrose mobile home park is throwing him out on the streets and it's all because of his choice in roommates.

Michael McMahon owns the trailer he lives in but rents the land it's located on.  After two new roommates and their service dog moved in, he's being told they all need to move out.

"This whole thing's kind of surreal in my mind," said Michael McMahon, homeowner at the Northbrook Villas Manufactured Homes Community in Montrose.

After living there for three years, he decided to have roommates move in to help with rent of the land his house is located on.

"I was interested in having roommates. I had several conversations with the office about that and they were agreeable" explained McMahon.

But before they could move in, management denied McMahon’s request.

"It was apparent that management was not going to approve my roommates because they had a dog and this management does not like dogs," said McMahon.

The dog, named Ogre, is the service dog of Jeffrey and Judy Dugay. Jeff is a veteran and says Ogre helps him with his condition.

"I actually got him for myself because I have PTSD, all kinds of problems, mental problems mostly. And I figured he could help me out with some of those things… which he has" explained Dugay.

Jeff's mother Judy has early onset of Alzheimer’s and says Ogre brings peace of mind to her as well. The two say they have documentation from medical professionals.

"Her doctor, her social worker, my therapist at the VA... we had letters from all of them" said Dugay.

Since McMahon breached the contract without getting approval for his roommates and the service dog, all three were issued an eviction notice.

"We didn't believe people in America still acted this way" said McMahon.

The sheriff's office was at the mobile home park on Monday to make sure they were out of the house. KJCT made several attempts to talk to management but they declined to comment and told us to leave the premises.

Since McMahon owns the home but not the lot it's on, he says there's only one thing left to do.

"I will be returning and moving my home from here" said McMahon.

McMahon says he's contacted the Department of Housing and Urban Development and it’s looking into the case. But for now, the courts have decided that he can't return to his home.
