GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. -

There's some good news on multiple economic fronts in the Grand Valley as a long-vacant commercial building in Grand Junction is soon to be filled, and new jobs are set to arrive.

Tractor Supply Company, which operates over 11-hundred stores in 45 states, will be settling into the old Office Depot building on Highway 6 & 50 across from Mesa Mall within the next month or two.

Diane Schwenke, with the Grand Junction Chamber of Commerce says while this piece of news is certainly a good one, the local economy continues to send mixed messages when it comes to business development in the area.

"We'll get something like this announcement, or the Buffalo Wild Wings, or some of the other things that we've seen recently, and yet when I talk with city planning, they haven't had any meetings with commercial potential projects for quite sometime," she explained.

Despite those overall mixed economic messages, the upcoming arrival of Tractor Supply Co. means big things for locals searching for a job.

The Chamber expects more than 50 new jobs to be added to the Grand Valley, with the Mesa County Workforce Center holding a hiring event Thursday and Friday the 13th and 14th of September from 8am-5pm.
