GRAND JUNCTION, Colo -

One in seven Colorado women will have breast cancer at some point during their lifetime.

To get those odds lowered, the American Cancer Society is walking for a cure.

Saturday morning, over 250 people joined the organization at Stocker Stadium for its 4th annual Making Strides against Breast Cancer event.

They walked three miles around the track for the cause.

By participating they're raising awareness, money, and supporting programs for all people with breast cancer.

Many of the people who walked today were celebrating cancer survivorship.

Survivor DeeAnn Lowry, says, “I love to know that you're not the only one that's ever gone through survival, that there's support out here.”

The event has raised over $20,000 to battle breast cancer.

The American Cancer Society says getting regular mammograms is the single best method for detecting breast cancer.
