Local Red Cross departs for New York
The Western Colorado Chapter of the American Red Cross is assisting with the response and recovery efforts in New York in the wake of Hurricane Sandy.
According to Eric Myers with the Red Cross, on Friday they deployed one shelter volunteer and one disaster mental health volunteer to work in local shelters.
They're also sending an Emergency Response Vehicle with a two-member crew. The E.R.V. crew will assist with mobile feeding operations and bulk distribution support, according to Myers.
KJCT will continue to track the progress of the local Red Cross team and share ways for you to help contribute to the effort.
