GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. -

For over 80 years the Grand Junction Lions Club has given funds to a larger group or organization.

For the ninth year in a row the GJ Lions will look to offer additional help in the community through the club's Random Act of Kindness program.

The program gives back to the community through random donations.

In the past the random acts have helped pay utility bills, prescription costs, daycare fees as well as meals for those in need.

Over the past 6 years more than 150-thousand dollars have been donated back through the program.

Steve Stewart, a Lions Club member, explained, "Today is the day where we hand out a 100-dollar bill to each one of our members, and that is to be used in the way that they might see fit for somebody that's less-fortunate this time of year. It's a program that's been going on for a number of years...  There's many a times where people are less fortunate than us, and we help them out in different ways."

If you'd like to be involved in the project you can contact the Lions Club.

They will be accepting donations to give to members to use for a random act of kindness.
