LEAP program provides assistance for heating bills
LEAP program helps pay for some of the winter time heating bills
If you're looking for some help paying for your winter heating bill, you're encouraged to apply for the low income energy assistance program.
LEAP applications are now available for Mesa County residents. You can pick up an application at the Mesa County Department of Human Services at 510 29 1/2 Road. Applications will be accepted through April 30th. If applicants are financially eligible to receive leap benefits, the payment will be sent directly to the provider and will show up as a credit on the applicant's heat bill.
“The economy really continues to drive our case load. Last year we received nearly 6,000 applications for LEAP assistance in Mesa County. This year we anticipate the same number or very close to it” said Karen Martsolf from Mesa County Health and Human Services.
Officials say LEAP isn't intended to pay the entire cost of home heating but it is designed to lessen the burden.
