GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. -

If your children are able to memorize the "Pledge of Allegiance", there may be some free dessert in store for them in the near future.

July isn't just the month we celebrate our nation's independence, it also happens to be ice cream month.

In honor of our independence and ice cream, Enstrom Candies will be giving away a free ice cream cone to children 12-years-old and under for reciting the Pledge of Allegiance.

The offer stands every Friday in July between 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.

Co-Owner Jamee Simons says it's a great combination to encourage patriotism among our youth.

"It's so much fun to watch the kids come in and recite their pledge, and they're very respectful of it and take it seriously. Parents are very proud, watching and taking pictures," said Simons.

This is the second year Enstrom Candies has been involved with the "I Pledge" program. Simons says last year was a great success and they expect more long lines out the door this time around.
