GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. -

There are plenty of charity drives taking place in the Grand Valley for the holidays,      but Monday, a large donation was made to those struggling the most.

A group representing S.P.U.N.K, which stands for socks, pajamas, and underwear for needy kids, brought in bags full of clothing to Grand Valley Catholic Outreach.

Now, underwear and socks may not sound like an exciting christmas gift to all children, but for kids in the outreach program, the gift of warmth goes a lot further than a toy, especially during the colder months.

Organizers say most people don't think about donating these types of items for Christmas.

Barbara Mahoney, communications director for Catholic Outreach explained, "Toys are wonderful when you're a child, and what these, what the gift of socks, underwear, pajamas, will do for children is to make sure that they're warm all under. And that's important, just as important as having a new toy."

The donated clothes will be given to children in the Catholic Outreach program this Christmas.

If there are extra clothes following the holidays, they'll be available in the at the Catholic Outreach clothing bank.
