GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. -

After serving the community for over 65 years a Delta business has closed it doors.

The John Deere dealership in Delta has been part of the agricultural community for decades but all that remains now is an empty building and a locked gate.

The dealerships in Delta and Montrose have recently consolidated and moved to a new facility in the city on Montrose. However, those in Delta say they'll miss the convenience of a local store.

“(It) will certainly make it harder on our agricultural partners to get their equipment. We’re sorry to see anytime a business leaves. We certainly wish them the best at their new facility” said Jynee Thomassen, President of the Delta Area Chamber of Commerce.

Although the location in Delta is closed, management at U.S. Tractor, the company that owns the dealerships, says that all of the employees from Delta were transferred to Montrose and they were able to avoid any layoffs.

Officials at the chamber are optimistic and say they hope to see another business move in to the old dealership soon.
