The Junior College World Series garners national attention each year, brings a welcomed boost to Grand Junction's economy and has grown into a prized tradition for the community over the last 50 years. Now, it's hoping to expand on the resume.
The readers of SportsTravel Magazine have nominated the 2012 JUCO World Series for a SportsTravel Award.
The criteria for nomination and voting includes superior organization, attendance and experience for both the competitors and spectators at the event.
Another measurement they gauge is how the venue served to enhance the sporting event.
"I think that it really put us at the top of the other amateur events because of the recent renovations but also the great tradition that we have as well," said Jamie Hamilton, chairman of JUCO.
If you want to help JUCO take home top honors, voting is open through August 15th.
Official ballots are available in the July and August issues of SportsTravel Magazine, but you can also vote online by visiting: http://vote.schneiderpublishing.com/ballot/.
Look for the option: 2012 NJCAA Division I Baseball World Series, Grand Junction, CO.
