It’s a girl! Grand Valley celebrates New Year's baby
One local family is celebrating the New Year with a new addition to their family.
Just hours after ringing in 2013, the first Grand Junction baby of the year was born at St. Mary's Hospital.
Meet Airibella Eden Moots, a New Year's morning surprise for her parents.
Airibella's birth was unexpected. Like her three older sisters, she came early. Her due date wasn't until January 26th.
"It’s first a feeling of relief that she is here and she is ok,” her father, Dusty Moots, said.
Airibella was born at 3:58am, weighing five pounds twelve ounces.
Her mother, Airin Moots, didn’t have an epidural.
"I’m really proud of her for toughing that out and bringing this little princess, my fourth little princess into the world," Dusty said.
The baby is named after her mother.
“Our four year old first coined the name Airibella,” Dusty Explained. “It kind of stuck and we looked up the meaning of it and it happened to mean yielding in prayer which we really liked."
The proud parents are excited to take their new baby home. Her big sisters have fun showcasing their musical talent in a family band, and they've already set aside a place for her.
"She’ll be the one crying in the background," Airin Moots said.
The moots are grateful the hospital is celebrating with them today.
