A candidate for House District 55 proposes a new loan program to benefit Mesa County's small businesses.
Dan Robinson says there are over 300 small businesses in the area, employing less than five people each. Together, they create over a thousand jobs.
After talking with local companies, he says there's a cash flow crisis.
As a result, the democrat is proposing a micro loan program for small businesses. It would provide loans with low interest rates in crisis situations.
“Anything to assist them in a cash flow crisis, we would be doing a tremendous thing for them,” Robinson said. “We need to begin to listen to people. As honest representatives of our government, we're obligated to begin listening and quit talking so damn much. “
Robinson proposes funding the loans by reducing the legislative session by one month.
He says that will save Colorado over a million dollars, which can be used to help small businesses in counties with the highest unemployment rates.
