Hospice and Palliative Care, a center designed for people with serious illnesses, is on their way to graduating to the second level of their program.

The "we honor veterans" program contains four levels of participation, which hospice will progress through as they increase their amount of staff education, participation and available programs for veterans.

Officials at hospice care take pride in providing veteran services; in fact, each one of their patients is recognized with a special private pinning ceremony.

The care center tries to reach out to all veterans in need, no matter what walk of life they come from.

Beth Brown, Committee Chair and RN said, “I think a lot of veterans are disconnected from the veteran services, depending on what war they're in because not all wars were supported by our country, so sometimes they're very distant.”

Hospice has been involved with the veteran program for two years now and so far is receiving great feedback.

This year for Veterans Day hospice care members visited all of their veteran patients, greeting them with thank-you cards and unique dog tags.

Hospice care actively searches for veteran volunteers who can provide companionship and support to patients.
