Those in need are often overlooked but that wasn't the case today at Catholic Outreach. A major donation of manpower was made to help renovate some of its transitional housing.

Back in the 90s, Grand Valley Catholic Outreach purchased a home to help keep homeless families off the street. After putting a roof over the head of families for decades the house needed some much needed repairs.

The Emergency T-House, as it's called, is over 100 years old and is a duplex which houses two families of 4 to 6 people. With the help of Team Home Depot, the home received new carpets, flooring, wall repairs, appliances and more. Catholic Outreach says they couldn't have gotten this done without this significant boost from the community.

“We just simply could not do this work in such a professional job ourselves. There's just no way we could do that” said Barbara Mahoney, Communications and Development Coordinator for Grand Valley Catholic Outreach.

“It makes me feel honored and humbled to do what I can do” said Bill Arcieri of Home Depot.

The T-House provides housing for families who have become homeless due to a fire or eviction. Grand Valley Catholic Outreach says the volunteers will save them about $3,000 in labor. The Team Home Depot program has been providing help to the community since 1998 and continues to volunteer their time to help others on their days off.

A dozen Home Depot workers from 10 different departments showed up to work on the home today hoping to make a difference in the lives of others.
