Helping students a world away from western CO
Grand Junction group reaches out to El Salvador "Sister City"
The Foundation for Cultural Exchange is looking for your help.
It's seeking sponsors to participate in a scholarship drive to help fund continuing education for students in Grand Junction's sister city of El Espino, El Salvador.
Sponsorships are accepted year-round but the foundation needs help meeting its goal of funding 19 scholarships by December 31st.
"This is very important because the students in our sister city community are living typically on less than five dollars a day," explained foundation president Anna Stout. "They come from very large families and they don't necessarily have the resources that they need to continue past eighth grade."
To sponsor a student, you can contact Anna at 970-433-2897 or email the Foundation at fceelsalvador@gmail.com.
Just $300 will sponsor a high school student and $1000 is needed to sponsor a university student.
Once you donate you will be helping a student in El Espino have a sense of ownership and pride in their community.
