KJCT News 8 is teaming with the Colorado Broadcasters Association in a statewide appeal to support wildfire relief efforts.

A live fundraiser is taking place Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. to benefit the Colorado chapters of the American Red Cross and the Colorado Professional Firefighters Foundation.

Red Cross volunteers are standing by at Rocky Mountain PBS Studios to take donations over the phone.

The toll-free number to call is 1(877) 667-6727.

Callers will have an option to donate to either the Red Cross, the firefighters foundation, or both.

Eric Myers with the Western Chapter of the American Red Cross says the wildfire disasters across the state have reached historic levels and these donations ensure that the Red Cross has the resources necessary to continue to provide assistance for wildfire victims.

Myers says they greatly appreciate all of the support they've received so far, but cleanup efforts are far from over and they need as much help as they can possibly get.
