Along with saving money and taking more trips, living a healthier lifestyle is a popular New Year's resolution.
Owner of Alpha Sports and Gym, Bill Schumate, says it's just like clockwork, starting in December of every year the gym starts to get packed.
This year however; the gym has been a little more quite.
"Maybe they're working out on a regular basis which would be great, they're not having a start point, end point but always continuing to pursue that, the second is maybe they've just seen failure time and time again, that they're just so tired of failing or setting themselves up for failure that they're not going to do it this year," said Bill.
Experts say however; if you set yourself up with small realistic goals your chances of succeeding will rise.
Laurie Broyles, fitness trainer at Crossroads Fitness said, "Signing up for the gym if you're not a member yet, or you can always go outside and ski, cross-country ski, snowshoe, but being active about thirty minutes a day, five times a week is definitely a great start."
"Because success will bread success and after you've accomplished the one, you're more charged up to go after the second phase of your program," said Bill.
Trainers also say that a high heart rate is key, simple rule of thumb to find out yours is to subtract your age from 220 multiply that by 60 per cent, giving you your target heart rate.
Experts also say to avoid sugars, starches and carbohydrates.
Another tip is to eat your breakfast right after you wake up, which will start your metabolism for the day.
Getting support is another great tip for success.
"If you sign up for a class or if you meet with friends it's going to make you more liable to get to the gym," said Broyles.
Owner of Alpha Sports and Nutrition says he's excited to help people out with their New Year’s resolution goals.
The new store has one-on-one or group training, as well as personal nutrition plans and a large variety of nutritional supplements.
Bill added, "We had some dreams along the way. Maybe last year they were crushed, but this is a brand new day. I think, start off with that achievable, marketable goal, get some help, get to the first phase, enjoy that move on to the second phase and you're going to see some great success this year.”
