GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. -

Governor Hickenlooper plans to stop in Grand Junction on Sunday during his trip across the state signing bills into law.

Saturday, the head of the state took in the thunderous rapids on the Arkansas River. The governor rode for about ten miles between Salida and Canon City.

The area is brewed right in the middle of controversy over a federally approved canopies set to be strung across the canyon for a few weeks in August.

The tourist attraction is expected to bring in hundreds of millions of dollars to the area - a plan Hickenlooper has supported. But, opponents worry about the impacts on the wildlife and the environment.

The governor will discuss "Pathways Home Colorado," a plan to prevent and end homelessness, at St. Martin Place Sunday at 5:30 pm.
