GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. -

A crowd of hundreds gathered in Grand Junction to voice opposition to pending gun control legislation.

While other say there needs to be change, people are rallying for a "Day of Resistance."

Gun owners from around Mesa County hope to send lawmakers a message to both Washington and Denver, urging them to stay away from their guns.

Organizers of this weekend's rally say gun owners are fed up.

“Government does not want to give up on their end so we just have to let them know that we are not giving up either,” rally organizer, Dave Melewski, said.  “Taking our guns or adding further regulations is not going to happen if we have anything to say about it."

Several gun groups and local lawmakers were at the rally.

They’re urging people to write to the officials letting them know what they think about gun control policies.
