Grand Junction woman to compete in 'Wipeout'

A Grand Junction woman who makes her living by healing pain, has just signed up for a TV program that specializes in handing out physical punishment.

During a regular day in Kay Patterson's life, you can find her offering medical treatment at her business, Mesa Therapies, as a Natural Practitioner.

But Patterson recently found out she's been selected to compete on the hit reality game show, 'Wipeout'.

The 'Wipeout' stage is billed as the world's largest obstacle course, and from watching the bounces, smashes and splashes contestants go through on the show, Patterson said she's excited for the fun, but also ready to treat the pain if need be.

"It will be fun, it's just so exciting," said Patterson.

"Anytime I can put what I do, what I teach people and my clients... I teach them health, I teach them to be happy, I help them, and work to give them more energy. So this is kind of like putting that all to test, put up or shut up," Patterson added.

Patterson said the experience is more important to her than the $50,000 reward money she would get for winning the competition.

She's the mother of seven children, some think she's a bit crazy for signing up for the show, but some of her older boys wish they could compete also.

Patterson had to fill out a stack of paperwork in Burbank California after being interviewed for the show; she still has to pass a physical before she's officially a 'Wipeout' contestant, but she's not too worried about that.

Producers plan on taping the show sometime in 2013 when the weather is warmer, but they still have to choose the episode before it will air.
