Grand Junction residents react to new Congress

Today was the start of the 113th congress and although members of the House and Senate were sworn-in in Washington, it's something that will affect the entire country, including the people right here in Grand Junction.     

The action kicked off at noon Thursday where both the House and Senate members elected on November 6th were sworn-in.

Although many congress members are the same, dozens are eager freshmen determined to change Washington.

With the next two crucial months still looming ahead we decided to hit the streets to hear you're thoughts on our new congress.

“I'm really struggling to feel hopeful and optimistic. It's been a bad few years with people not belong able to agree or come to some sort of compromise. So I have a lot of hope that new people will bring that kind of attitude," said Grand Junction resident Marty Shero.

"I just hope they can get along so we can move our country forward," said Bill Hilty, a resident of Grand Junction.

The new congress still faces the disputes that surrounded the 112th congress, which was one of the least productive in more than 60 years.                          

Many congress members say they can only hope for more help from eager members with fresh ideas.                                            

Other people we spoke with are also hoping for some new approaches.
