Golf Course Vending Machines Targeted By Thieves
This Comes After A String Of Vending Machine Break-Ins In Mesa County
More vending machines in Mesa County have been targeted by thieves; this time, at area golf courses. The Lincoln Park golf course had its range ball machine broken into a week ago and more recently, the range ball machine at Tiara Rado Golf Course has been targeted twice.
It was first broken into last week. Thieves pried the door off and made away with the cash. Course officials repaired the door, believing it to be an isolated event. This weekend, however, it was broken into again.
Larry Manchester who represents Tiara Rado says that the vending machine's location made it possible for the thieves to quietly break in during daylight hours. Since, they have posted employees to watch the area while they fabricate a permanent fix.
Kate Porras, spokesperson for the Grand Junction Police Department says that while there are similarities with these break-ins to other vending machine burglaries in the area, evidence is insufficient to link them all. Until then, she asks that business owners keep vending areas well-lit and if possible, watched or surveilled by video camera.
