Tourists often descend upon Glenwood Springs to take in outdoor adventures and beautiful mountain landscapes, but now, thrill-seekers have even more to look forward to when visiting the city.
The Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park has announced the opening date for its new roller coaster, "The Cliffhanger".
According to a release from Mandy Gauldin with the adventure park, their newest addition is the highest-elevation, full-sized roller coaster in America.
The coaster is perched at an altitude of 7,160 feet on the side of Iron Mountain, overlooking Glenwood Springs. Park employees believe the coaster's cliff-side curves and heart-stopping drop-offs are sure to elicit smiles, as well as a few screams.
The roller coaster is 50-feet-tall and located above the rest of the park. It's a 1,600-foot ride that lasts 80 seconds.
"It's tricky to build a roller coaster on top of a mountain, so the process has taken a little longer than we'd hoped. I have given it a test ride, though, and it has definitely been worth the wait," said Steve Beckley, owner of Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park.
According to Gauldin, last month the park added the "Wild West Express" family roller coaster and the "Mine Ferris Wheel" ride. All three attractions are included in the price of the day pass.
Day Pass Prices:

Annual Thrill Pass:(For those who visit more than twice a year)
