Since our story first aired Sunday about the possible future of Glacier Ice Arena we have heard reaction from the City of Grand Junction. They feel we stepped over the line with our report about the city looking into the purchase of the property. We received a tip about the city looking into purchasing the Glacier Ice Arena about two weeks ago.
Last Thursday, they agreed to allow us an interview with the Parks and Recreation Director Rob Schoeber.
That interview was conducted Sunday afternoon at which time we learned the city council will likely discuss the possible purchase of the Glacier Ice Arena among other things late this summer.
Rob Schoeber said, "I would assume that it will be look at in the summer. If it stays on the list and the current council is supportive then we will start to look at all the different angles of how making it work, will be the best thing for the community."
As we reported Sunday, the possible purchase has a long way to go. It is one of around 60 on a list of street, water, sewer, and parks capital projects that the city will consider.
We will keep you updated on any future developments with the Glacier Ice Arena.
Here is the full-interview with Schoeber:
