Girl Scouts Cookie Fundraiser
What Cookie Sales Go Towards
It's that time of the year when these little boxes of goodness fly off the shelves. Besides being treats for many, this fundraiser helps teach girls some pretty important skills.
"My favorite ones are the thin mints! Mine too," said Girl Scouts Syvannah Fraser and Anela Cronk.
These girl scouts say they can't wait to hit the streets and start raising some money.
"It teaches me how to count money and people skills, and being able to set goals," said Anela Cronk. "Our girls in particular, the people skills is probably the best thing that they've learned," said Troop Leader Jodee Cronk.
So what's your money going to each time you buy a box of thin mints? The Grand Junction girl scouts have some pretty big plans.
"The troops get part of the profit and part of the profits go to Girl Scouts of Colorado. They're planning to go to Salt Lake City and work in a big no-kill animal shelter for a day; and hopefully go to a water park too while we're there," said Jodee Cronk. "It will be one of the things that stays with you forever," said Anela Cronk.
Even better than all the cookies and memorable trips? The confidence the girls gain with each step.
"I've learned not to be shy because I'm normally really shy," said Fraser.
Important skills that will help them on the road to success.
